About this place FRIENDS

Located in Prague's historic Old Town, this is the city's biggest gay drinking bar, making it a natural gathering spot for LGBTQ+ visitors exploring the capital. The venue attracts a mix of tourists and younger locals, creating a social atmosphere where you can meet people and experience Prague's gay scene. It's the kind of place that works well for getting out and connecting with the community, especially if you're new to the city. The vibe here is casual and social rather than high-energy, though special party nights can bring more liveliness to the space. It's worth noting that the bar can get busy, so patience with drink service is sometimes needed during peak times. If you're interested in women's events, there's a regular Friday lesbian night, which does have a small additional charge. Whether you're looking for a straightforward night out with drinks and friendly faces or want to check out what's happening on a particular evening, this venue offers accessibility and a central Old Town location that makes it convenient for exploring the broader Prague LGBTQ+ scene. It's a solid choice for casual drinks and meeting other travellers and locals.

If you are gay, lesbian, or otherwise part of the LGBT community, this club is one of the best you can find in Prague. The waiters and the people who welcome you inside are very kind and very nice. You also don't spend much money, and what's more, the DJ puts on some very nice and catchy songs. A must-try if you come on holiday here in Prague.

You order rum and Coke and they give you water with Coke; you're ripped off in every sense of the word. The bartender is disgusting, and even though he knows he's watering down your drink, all the drinks are watered down with colored water. This bar is disgusting and repulsive.

Need cash to enter (50kr which is like $2; coat check included), but they don’t want large bills — finally took the 1000 bill from ATM. Crowd is small until after midnight. Good music. Left and came back later to much better, energetic crowd around 1 am.

My husband and I recently visited Friends Club in Prague and had a very disappointing experience. Upon entry, we were told that the cloakroom was mandatory and had to be paid for. I immediately offered to pay in cash, but when I asked why we couldn’t pay by card, the staff member seemed visibly annoyed and had to look for the card machine. Then a security guard instructed us to leave even our small bag with our wallets, which didn’t make sense, as we later saw other guests keeping their bags. At the bar, I ordered a gin and tonic and was again asked to pay cash. I insisted on paying by card — why such an obsessive request for cash? The most frustrating part was discovering via a screenshot that there was a “buy one, get one free” promotion on gin and tonics on Tuesdays, which nobody offered us. When I pointed it out later, the bartender mumbled something and walked away. Out of principle, I returned to the bar, showed the screenshot, and only then — a bit begrudgingly — did he give me the second gin and tonic. I found all of this behavior inappropriate and unpleasant, especially for tourists who come to these venues thinking they’ll have a welcoming experience. Instead, it feels like you are being taken advantage of. They fail to realize that this approach damages their reputation, and gradually people will stop supporting them. This behavior is especially disappointing for a venue catering to the LGBT community, which should be about solidarity and respect, not treating guests as “easy targets.” P.S.: Smiling is free and doesn’t cost the person doing it anything — a little courtesy goes a long way.

we went back couple of weeks ago after negative experience during the prague pride and gotta say this time we had a blast, although the barmen still suck! massive thanks to DJ Dominika who created an unbelievable atmosphere with her mixes and interactions with the audience, looking forward to seeing her again!
