Letná Park is one of those rare places where a city quietly reveals its soul. Perched above the Vltava, this hillside park offers a panoramic view that feels almost cinematic: bridges stretching across the river, red rooftops layered into the distance, and the steady rhythm of Prague unfolding below. What makes Letná special is the balance between grandeur and calm. The viewpoint delivers one of the most iconic vistas in the city, yet the atmosphere remains unhurried and local. You see cyclists gliding along tree-lined paths, couples pausing on benches, and friends gathering near the beer garden as the light softens over the skyline. The experience changes with the seasons. In autumn, the foliage frames the river in warm tones; in spring and summer, the park becomes vibrant and lively; at dusk, the city lights slowly emerge and the view turns quietly magical. Letná Park is not just a viewpoint — it is a place to pause, breathe, and feel Prague rather than simply see it. It is where the city becomes a panorama and a moment becomes a memory.

Letná is more than just a green plateau above the Vltava. The first landmark is a pair of ceramic-clad towers by Zdeněk Sýkora, pioneer of computer-aided art, their black-and-white surfaces now a protected monument. The park itself took shape in the 1860s, when landscape architects laid out broad tree-lined paths and open lawns for the city’s leisure. History left heavier marks too. Stalin’s vast monument once stood here – derisively nicknamed the “meat queue” – until it was demolished in 1962. Today the same plinth carries Novák’s giant Metronome, its red arm swinging above graffiti-scarred stone. Lower down, a new pond built in 2021 fulfils a long-delayed 19th-century plan, adding calm reflections to the scene. From the terraces, Prague stretches out in bridges and rooftops, with the ornate Hanavský Pavilion (1891) crowning the view. Part Neo-Baroque, part Art Nouveau, it was the city’s first cast-iron framed building, now a café with one of the best outlooks in town.

In Prague, Letenské sady is truly one of the best places in the whole city. A big park full of life, views, and energy — from here you can see almost all of Prague spread out below you. It’s perfect for running, walking, sunsets, or just sitting with a drink and friends. I’ve been here so many times — with Tomáš, with Jdu běhat, with Ondra, during Reebok runs, or just alone — and every time it gave me the same peace and joy. It’s one of those places that always feels alive, no matter how many times you come back.
