Pinkster Tennis Tournament Amsterdam 2026
About This Event
The Pinkster Tennis Tournament has been a fixture of Amsterdam's LGBTQ+ scene since the 1980s, happening every Pentecost weekend. Smashing Pink, one of the world’s oldest gay tennis clubs, runs it. Hundreds of queer players from all over Europe come for four days of matches, parties, and Dutch hospitality.
They play singles and doubles, split by skill level, so everyone from beginners to pros can get involved. Off-court, there's a welcome reception, themed dinners, a gala, and after-parties. These often land at Amsterdam places like Club NYX, Prik, and the bars on Reguliersdwarsstraat. The vibe is friendly: serious tennis mixed with queer community celebration.
Amsterdam itself helps. Canals, museums, a progressive culture, and one of Europe’s most established gay scenes are all right there. You can spend downtime at the Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark, the Anne Frank House, or the Homomonument.
Schiphol Airport is 15 minutes by train from central Amsterdam. Try staying near Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, or the Jordaan; they’re good for nightlife and getting to the tournament. Book early. Pinkster weekend is a big Dutch holiday, so places fill up. Pack your tennis gear, plus some party clothes. And get ready to cycle. It’s how people get around here.
