The Kraków Equality March (Marsz Równości) is one of the most visually spectacular Pride events in Central Europe — a 10,000-person march through one of the world's most beautiful medieval cities. The march takes place in May each year, routing through or adjacent to Kraków's UNESCO World Heritage old town, with the Rynek Główny — the largest medieval market square in Europe, surrounded by Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture — serving as the backdrop for gatherings before and after the march itself. The Kraków march has a particularly charged history: in 2019 it was banned by the then-mayor, a decision overturned by courts in a significant legal victory that became a reference point for LGBTQ+ rights litigation in Poland. Since that reversal, the march has grown annually. In 2026 the march is expected to draw 10,000 participants. The combination of the architectural setting, the political history, and the increasingly festive character of the event makes Kraków in May one of the best single LGBTQ+ travel experiences in Central Europe. The Kazimierz district's bars and venues are the natural gathering point before and after the march.
