Prague isn't London or Amsterdam. You won't find blocks of gay shops here. What's available is smaller, more spread out. Still, Vinohrady and the surrounding areas have a few spots to know about. And general shopping in Prague is usually a good deal.

What's here

A few adult shops and pride stores operate in Prague, mostly in Vinohrady or the city center. They're not huge, but they cover the basics for locals and tourists. Some Vinohrady bars also sell merchandise.

If you're looking for books, Czech LGBTQ+ literature in English is pretty limited. Mainstream bookshops in Prague do carry some English-language titles, and the overall selection in the city is better than you might think. But specific gay literature is hard to find in print.

General shopping

Prague's Old Town has plenty of shops, markets, and boutiques, though a lot of it leans touristy. Vinohrady has more everyday stuff: pharmacies, supermarkets, independent cafes, and some fashion and lifestyle shops for people who live there. If you need mainstream retail, the Palladium shopping center near Namesti Republiky has it.

The city's covered markets, especially Naplavka by the river on weekends, sell food, crafts, and vintage goods. They're worth a look no matter what you're after.

The shops

    • CITY FOX — Prague's only gay erotica shop. This video, DVD, and DVD rental shop is on the same street as Pinocchio. They have a big selection of films, including a lot from their own company, City Fox, which uses Czech actors. It also sells some sex toys, magazines, lubricants, and novelties.

Practical notes

The currency is Czech koruna. Most shops take cards, but you'll want cash for markets and smaller independent places. Non-EU visitors can get VAT refunds for purchases over a certain amount. For a wider view of the city, see the Gay Prague Guide.
