KitKat Club has been at the intersection of fetish culture, techno music, and sexual liberation since 1994. The weekly CarneBall Bizarre on Saturdays is the club's signature event — a sex-positive party with a strictly enforced dress code that requires fetish, latex, lingerie, nudity, or extreme fashion to enter. People in street clothes are turned away. This is not an exclusionary policy but a community-maintenance one: the dress code produces an environment where the social contract around sexual freedom is understood by everyone present. The club occupies a large venue in Mitte/Kreuzberg border and operates on multiple levels with a main techno floor, a chill-out area, and extensive darkroom and playroom facilities. The crowd is queer in the broad sense — gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, and kinky straight people all attend — and the explicit queerness of the space is political as much as it is sexual. Friday's Kinky Sunday (which runs on Sundays) is slightly more relaxed on dress code but maintains the same ethos. KitKat has survived three decades of Berlin's relentless venue turnover by understanding exactly what it is and never compromising it.
