Lisbon Pride (Marcha do Orgulho LGBT+ de Lisboa) is Portugal's largest LGBTQ+ event — an annual celebration that draws over 100,000 participants and spectators to the streets of the Portuguese capital each June. The main parade runs through the Baixa neighbourhood and along the Tagus riverfront, making it one of the most scenically spectacular pride routes in Europe: the procession moves past the eighteenth-century buildings of the Baixa, down toward the Praça do Comércio and the open expanse of the Tagus estuary, with the sun typically setting across the river as the parade reaches its climax. The surrounding Pride week fills Lisbon's LGBTQ+ venues with themed events, exhibitions, film screenings, and community gatherings. The Príncipe Real neighbourhood in particular takes on a festive character throughout the week, with Bar 106, Finalmente Club, Trumps, and the other gay venues running special events. Lisbon Pride takes place on the last Saturday of June each year. Accommodation books quickly in the weeks before the event — visitors planning to attend should reserve hotels three to four months in advance. The combination of Lisbon's extraordinary physical beauty with a well-organised and genuinely celebratory pride event makes Lisbon Pride one of the most rewarding dates in the European LGBTQ+ travel calendar.
