Sydney has a functioning gay sauna scene concentrated mainly in Darlinghurst, within easy distance of the Oxford Street bar strip. The venues follow the standard bathhouse format and are open most days of the week, not just on weekends.
What to expect
Entry at Sydney saunas typically runs AUD 25-40 depending on the venue, the day, and whether you take a locker or a private cabin. A locker gives you a towel, a combination lock, and access to all communal areas. A cabin costs more and gives you a private room with a basic bed. Most venues have steam rooms, a dry sauna, showers, common rest areas, and some form of cruise space.
Weekday afternoons from around 2pm tend to be consistently active. Evenings pick up from around 8pm. Weekend nights are the busiest. There is generally no time limit on your session once you have paid entry.
Most venues have a small shop at the front desk selling condoms, lube, and other supplies. Towels are included in your entry fee at most places. Bring ID.

Practical notes
The Darlinghurst venues are reachable by bus from the city or a short Uber. Museum or Kings Cross train stations put you within walking distance. If you are already on Oxford Street for the evening, most sauna entrances are a few blocks off the main strip.
Phone policies vary. Some venues ask you to keep phones in your locker or at the front desk. Others are more relaxed. Check before assuming either way.
