Cologne, Germany
Cologne CSD (Christopher Street Day) is Germany's largest pride celebration and one of the biggest in Europe, drawing up to 1.5 million people to the Rhine city each July. The parade route winds through the medieval old town past the magnificent Cologne Cathedral — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — before ending in a massive festival ground along the riverbank. The Cologne CSD has been running since 1979 and has grown to become a full-day spectacle: thousands of floats, community groups, and marching bands fill the streets from morning until evening, followed by an outdoor concert and the legendary afterparties in the gay-friendly Heumarkt and Rudolfplatz areas. Cologne's central location in Germany, excellent rail connections, and the city's warm and welcoming culture make it a prime destination for LGBTQ+ visitors from across Europe. The city's Cathedral, rising beside the Rhine, provides a backdrop that no other pride event can match.
Cologne, Germany
Cologne's Christopher Street Day is consistently one of the biggest pride parades in the world by attendance. The street party along the Rhine stretches for kilometres, and the city's notoriously welcoming queer scene makes sure the celebrations last for days before and after the main event. Worth knowing: hotel rooms book out months in advance.
Cologne, Germany
Cologne CSD 2027 returns to the Rhine for Germany's largest pride event, expected to again draw over a million to the streets of the medieval city beneath its magnificent cathedral.
Guida di viaggio
Tutto quello che vale la pena sapere prima di partire.
Cologne hosts Europe's largest Christopher Street Day — 1.2 million people on the streets in July. The city's gay district runs along the Schaafenstraße in the city centre and extends into the adjoining streets. Cologne's gay scene is famous for its warmth and accessibility: less stratified than Berlin, more welcoming to first-time visitors, and deeply embedded in the city's Carnival culture where gender and sexuality have always been performed publicly.
