Pegaso Sauna serves the Neapolitan gay scene from a location in the Vomero district — the prosperous hilltop neighbourhood above the city centre, reached by funicular or taxi. The Vomero is Naples' most middle-class neighbourhood, which gives the sauna a clientele that skews older and more local than the bars in Chiaia. The facility covers the standard Italian gay sauna complement: Turkish steamroom, Finnish dry sauna, darkroom maze, private cabins and a small bar area. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious — regulars know each other and the sauna functions as much as a community meeting point as a cruising venue. It is open daily from the early afternoon with later closing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Towel hire and locker are included in the entry price. Located near the Quattro Giornate funicular exit, accessible from the centro storico in about 15 minutes.
