Club Rainbow operates in the Nanshan district — the western part of Shenzhen closest to the major technology campuses and with the highest concentration of international tech workers. The club benefits from this demographic: a younger, more internationally connected crowd than the bars in older parts of the city, and a social atmosphere shaped by the tech industry's generally progressive culture. Weekend nights are the main events; the crowd includes Shenzhen-based Chinese gay men, tech expats and occasional visitors from Hong Kong. Less established than BV Bar but more energetic on weekends.
