Parco delle Cascine is Florence's largest park — 118 hectares of riverside land along the Arno's north bank, stretching west from the city centre to Ponte all'Indiano. The park serves as Florence's main outdoor cruising area, particularly active in the wooded sections of the eastern half (nearer the tram terminus) after dark. The combination of a large, well-frequented public park with wooded cover makes it one of Tuscany's most established outdoor cruising locations. Peak activity is in warm months (April–September) and on summer weekday afternoons when the park's mainstream visitors provide cover. The tram line 1 reaches the Cascine tram terminus in about 10 minutes from the centre. The park also hosts the Tuesday market (Mercato delle Cascine) and summer music events, which keep the space animated and relatively safe.
