Clapham Common has been an outdoor cruising spot in London for decades. The active area sits on the west side of the common where the tree and bush cover thickens — accessible from the tube in about five minutes on foot. Activity picks up after dark and intensifies after pub closing time. The crowd is mixed in age and type. The park is large enough that the daytime dog-walkers and joggers are long gone by the time it gets busy. A note of caution: there have been documented homophobic attacks in this park. People who cruise here advise going with at least one other person, staying visible with others, and avoiding isolated areas. It has not deterred the regular crowd but it is worth knowing.
