Malo Glitter Bar is the centre of gravity for Pigneto's queer community — a colourful, chaotic space that does drag shows, disco nights, karaoke, comedy, poetry readings and art exhibitions in the same week. The neighbourhood it inhabits is Rome's most authentically bohemian: Pigneto has been the artists' and activists' quarter since the 1960s (when Pasolini shot his early films here), and Malo Glitter fits that tradition perfectly. The crowd skews younger, more gender-diverse, more politically engaged than Gay Street. This is where Rome's queer scene looks when it wants to see itself rather than perform for tourists.
