The Polo Lounge at West Tollcross provides an LGBTQ+ destination venue on the south side of central Edinburgh, away from the Broughton Street Pink Triangle cluster. The split-level venue operates an upstairs cocktail bar and lounge with a basement that runs as a nightclub at weekends, offering Edinburgh's gay community a second geographic pole of activity. The Tollcross location is convenient for those staying in the Marchmont, Bruntsfield or Morningside areas of south Edinburgh who would otherwise have to travel north for a gay evening. The Polo Lounge has been part of Edinburgh's scene for many years and carries a reputation as a relaxed, professionally run venue with a mixed LGBTQ+ clientele and a more mainstream musical policy than some of the Broughton Street venues.
