Medellín has a modest gay sauna scene that is active and well-priced. The venues are small in number compared to Bogotá or São Paulo, but they are consistent and affordable. The city's warm climate makes sauna culture slightly different here than in colder cities — the contrast between hot interior and warm exterior is less dramatic, but the venues are well-used regardless.
What to expect
Medellín saunas follow the Colombian sauna format: reception, lockers, showers, sauna areas, common rooms, and private cubicles. Most have a dark room. Facilities are generally clean and well-maintained at the approved venues. Entry prices are very low.
Traffic tends to peak in the evenings and on weekend afternoons. The warmer overall climate means that both daytime and evening visits are comfortable — there is less of a specific rush to the warm interior that you might find in a colder city.
