Männersache offers a different proposition to Flex: it is a smaller, more intimate sauna on the Lange Reihe itself — the main gay street — rather than the larger purpose-built facility on the Steindamm. The venue operates on the model of the traditional European gay sauna: steam room, darkrooms, rest area, and a social environment that is about community as much as it is about cruising. Regular themed events include naked Thursdays, fetish nights and seasonal specials. The Lange Reihe location means that Männersache is embedded in the neighbourhood social fabric in a way that the larger Flex sauna is not — the sauna is the same street as the cafes and bars, allowing for an evening that moves between social and sexual without needing to travel.
