The Bourbon Pub and Parade Disco occupy 801 Bourbon Street, directly across from Oz at the St Ann intersection, making the corner of Bourbon and St Ann the most concentrated block of gay nightlife in New Orleans and among the most concentrated in the United States. The Bourbon Pub operates as a street-level video bar — screens running music videos, a long bar along one wall, and the kind of casual drinking atmosphere that functions equally well at 3pm and 3am. Parade, the upstairs venue, is the dance club component: a proper disco with a DJ, a dance floor, and a different energy from the street-level pub. The two-venue structure means the building serves a wider range of moods and purposes than a single-format club can manage: the pub for watching and socialising, Parade for dancing and losing yourself in the music. The balcony above Bourbon Street on the Parade level is one of the most coveted spots on the strip during Southern Decadence and Mardi Gras, when the street below is so dense with people that the view from above becomes one of the defining experiences of the event. Bourbon Pub and Parade have been operating at this address for decades and are as much a fixture of the French Quarter as the architecture itself. During normal operation, both venues run continuously; there is no closing time in New Orleans.
