Each October, tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people from across Europe join Munich's Oktoberfest at the Theresienwiese fairgrounds for a designated "gay day" at the Bräurosl tent — the largest beer tent at Oktoberfest. The contrast is part of the joy: lederhosen and dirndls worn unironically by thousands of gay men and lesbians, giant steins of Bavarian beer, oompah bands, and the general madness of Oktoberfest filtered through a queer lens.
