Street 66 opened on Capel Street in 2016 and established itself rapidly as one of Dublin's most popular LGBTQ+ venues, benefiting from the street's emerging identity as the new gay village while bringing a more contemporary bar aesthetic to the strip. The venue runs DJ sets most evenings, creating a lively atmosphere without the full nightclub commitment, and the cocktail programme is considerably more ambitious than the average Dublin gay bar. The crowd skews younger than The George and is mixed in gender and sexuality while remaining clearly LGBTQ+-centred. Street 66 represents the next generation of Dublin's gay scene — built after the marriage equality referendum, without the urgency that characterised earlier venues, and operating in a city that has largely normalised LGBTQ+ visibility. The Capel Street location makes it easy to combine with Pantibar, The Dragon and other nearby venues on a single evening.
