The gay bar scene in Barcelona is centred almost entirely on Gaixample, specifically the streets around Carrer del Consell de Cent, Carrer de Casanova, and Carrer de Muntaner. It is a walkable cluster. You can drink your way around eight or nine bars in a single evening without getting in a taxi.
Most bars here do not fill until midnight on weekends, and 1am is not unusual. If you show up at 10pm, you will find the staff but not much of a crowd. Come later. On weekdays things are noticeably quieter. Wednesday and Thursday can still surprise you, but do not expect the weekend energy.
A note on style: Gaixample bars range from old-school neighbourhood spots with drag shows and cheap gin and tonics to darker, more fetish-leaning bars closer to the sauna clusters. There is no single vibe. You pick based on what you want that night.

A few things worth knowing
Drinks prices in Gaixample are reasonable by Western European standards. A gin and tonic runs €8–€12 depending on the bar. Some places do happy hour until midnight. Most venues accept cards, though a handful still prefer cash for small amounts.
The bars here are safe and the staff are used to all kinds of travellers. Solo visitors are common. You will not feel out of place if you walk in alone.
If you want to continue after the bars close (most wind down by 3am), the clubs tend to run until 6am or later. Sala Apollo on Carrer Nou de la Rambla is a regular option. During Circuit Festival week, the official events take over entirely. Check the Circuit programme separately.
