Stockholm's gay sauna scene is modest. The city has fewer options than Berlin, Amsterdam, or London, and there is no equivalent of the large commercial bathhouse circuits you find in some European capitals. What exists is smaller in scale but functional and accessible.

What is available

The venues that operate in Stockholm follow the standard format: entry with a locker or private room option, sauna facilities, steam and wet areas, and shared social spaces. Facilities are maintained to a decent standard. Staff are professional and English is not a problem.

Pricing reflects the general Stockholm cost level. Entry for a locker session is likely to run higher than in southern European cities, though the difference is not dramatic. Check individual venue websites for current rates as prices adjust.

Who goes and when

The crowd at Stockholm saunas is predominantly local. These are not tourist-circuit venues in the way some saunas in larger cities are. Weekday afternoons attract working professionals taking an extended lunch or afternoon break. Evenings and weekends are busier, particularly in winter when outdoor options disappear and indoor socialising takes over.

Summer changes things slightly. The long days and the bar scene in Sodermalm compete for attention, and sauna attendance patterns shift. Pride week brings more visitors to everything in Stockholm, including the saunas.
