Barcelona has a range of cruising options: outdoor spaces, indoor clubs, and the saunas that double as cruising venues. The outdoor scene runs year-round, busiest in summer. The indoor venues are consistent all year.

Mar Bella beach

Mar Bella is the main gay beach and the most active outdoor cruising spot in the city. The dunes and scrub at the north end of the gay section see regular activity, particularly on warm afternoons and early evenings. Take the L4 metro to Selva de Mar and walk south towards the beach. The beach bar marks the centre of the gay section; the cruising area starts past it heading north into the dunes.

The area is known and tolerated. Police occasionally pass through but this is more about general beach patrol than enforcement. Use the same awareness you would at any outdoor space.

Bunkers del Carmel

The old anti-aircraft battery ruins on the hill in the Carmel neighbourhood attract a late-night crowd after midnight, particularly in summer. It is also a genuine city viewpoint. The skyline view is one of the best in Barcelona. There is no direct metro: take L5 to El Carmel and walk up (about 15–20 minutes uphill). Go late if that is your purpose.

Indoor cruising venues

Practical notes

Most indoor venues charge a combined entry and locker fee. Dark rooms, mazes, glory holes, and themed areas vary by venue. Check the specific listing for what each offers. Some run themed nights on weekends (leather, fetish, bear, etc.).

Outdoor cruising at Mar Bella and the Bunkers is free and requires no planning. Standard harm-reduction practices apply. Condoms and lube are available from the sex shops in Gaixample and from vending machines in some of the saunas.
