Midsumma Carnival is the spectacular outdoor fair day that opens Melbourne's Midsumma Festival each January, filling Alexandra Gardens on the banks of the Yarra River with tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ Melburnians and visitors for a free community celebration. The Carnival is the most accessible event in the Midsumma program — all ages, all abilities, all welcome — with live stages, market stalls, community organizations, and the legendary Hot Dog competition that has become a beloved Melbourne tradition.
