São Paulo has an extensive indoor cruising scene — saunas, sex clubs, and dark rooms — as well as several parks with established outdoor cruising areas. The indoor options are the more reliable and safer choice; the outdoor areas require more situational awareness.

Parque Trianon and Avenida Paulista area

The smaller parks and green spaces along and adjacent to Avenida Paulista have long-established cruising reputations, particularly in the evenings and at night. Parque Trianon, the small park directly on Paulista, and the surrounding streets see consistent activity after dark. These are public spaces with general pedestrian traffic, so situational awareness is necessary.

Ibirapuera Park

São Paulo's main large park, Ibirapuera, has cruising activity in certain sections, particularly after dark near the edges of the park. It is a large and mostly safe park during daylight hours; at night the dynamic changes and standard outdoor precautions become more important. Keep valuables secured, go with awareness, and trust your instincts.

Indoor venues

The Frei Caneca area has dedicated sex clubs alongside the sauna circuit, and these are the mainstream of organized indoor cruising in the city. They are busy, well-managed by the standards of the sector, and much more predictable than outdoor alternatives. Entry is cheap. They run until late and pick up traffic after clubs close — the post-club crowd arrives from around 3am on weekends.

The venues

    • Upgrade Club — Opened in April 2009, it launched a new concept in a men's club in São Paulo. Upgrade Club opened in 2009 and is located in the heart of São Paulo, near Praça da República and the region of Largo do Arouche; it has more than 400m2 of space distributed over two floors. On the first floor: reception, snack bar, TV lounges, modern changing rooms and bathrooms, showers, and hygienic showers. Practical notes

Indoor venues: follow house rules, no phones in play areas is standard, condoms are available at the venue. The better São Paulo venues take safety seriously.

Outdoor areas: do not bring anything you cannot afford to lose, go with awareness of your surroundings, and use app-based transport to get home rather than walking alone late at night in unfamiliar areas.
