The world's original gay Pride celebration returns to San Francisco for 2026. The parade marches down Market Street to Civic Center Plaza, where two days of stages, performances and community events draw over 250,000 attendees. San Francisco Pride has been held annually since 1970 — one of the first Pride events in the world following the Stonewall uprising — and retains a political seriousness that distinguishes it from more purely celebratory events. The Castro neighbourhood is the epicentre of the city's Pride week programming, with bars, clubs, and community organisations running events throughout the preceding week.
