Firenze Pride 2026

Florence Pride marches through some of the world's most important Renaissance streets — the route from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza Santa Croce passes the Uffizi, the Bargello and buildings designed by Brunelleschi, Alberti and Michelangelo. The event is organised by Arcigay Firenze (renamed from Ireos, Florence's long-standing LGBTQ+ centre) and draws 20,000–30,000 participants. Michelangelo's tomb is in Santa Croce — the basilica at whose foot Florence's LGBTQ+ community has been gathering for decades. The historical resonance is deliberate and consistent.

Gay Florence — Your Complete Guide

Everything worth knowing before you go.

Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance and, since 1978, home to Tabasco — Italy's oldest continuously operating gay bar. The city's gay scene is smaller than Rome or Milan but concentrated in the historic centre within walking distance of the Uffizi and Santa Croce. Crisco Bar/Club operates as Florence's main dance venue. Florentine Pride is held each June. For a city that Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli all called home — three Renaissance geniuses with documented or widely argued same-sex attractions — Florence has an LGBTQ+ identity that predates the modern concept by centuries.
