Genoa, Italy
Genova Pride marches through one of Europe's most dramatically vertical cities — the Ligurian capital climbs from the port through layers of medieval, Baroque and 19th-century architecture, and the Pride route through the centro storico passes Baroque Strada Nuova palaces (now housing world-class art collections) and the port waterfront. Expected attendance: 10,000–20,000, drawing from across Liguria. The event is organised by Arcigay Genova and is one of the more visually distinctive Prides in northern Italy.
Travel Guide
Everything worth knowing before you go.
Genoa is Italy's largest port city and one of its most underrated urban destinations — a labyrinthine medieval centre (the largest medieval historic centre in Europe), extraordinary Baroque palaces, and a Ligurian cuisine that is quietly one of Italy's finest. The gay scene is small and spread across the city, concentrated in the area around Via San Luca and the Caruggi (the historic network of medieval lanes). Genoa Pride in summer is an important event for Liguria. The city's port character and seafaring history have historically produced a relatively tolerant social environment.
