Goodtimes Bar on East Tropicana Avenue represents the neighbourhood gay bar tradition in a city that is not known for neighbourhood anything. While the Fruit Loop clubs on Paradise Road run the nightclub format with production values and themed nights, Goodtimes operates as a local bar: pool tables, affordable drinks, a jukebox, and a crowd of regulars who are not interested in circuits or DJs. The bar draws predominantly from Las Vegas's residential gay population — the city has a substantial permanent LGBTQ+ community separate from the visitor economy — and has the community memory that comes from long operation in the same location. For visitors who have had enough of the casino resort scale and want an evening in a bar that feels like a real place, Goodtimes is the correct destination. The Tropicana location makes it accessible from the south end of the Strip and the airport corridor; it is not in the Fruit Loop cluster but close enough to work as part of an evening that begins elsewhere. The bar also functions as an LGBT leather bar on certain nights, giving it a secondary identity for the city's leather community alongside its general neighbourhood bar role.
