Out in Africa is South Africa's pioneering LGBTQ+ film festival, screening in both Johannesburg and Cape Town since 1994 — the same year South Africa's landmark constitution was adopted. Thirty years of queer cinema have been showcased through this festival, which has played a crucial role in building LGBTQ+ cultural life in the country and providing visibility for South African queer filmmakers. It's one of Africa's most important arts events.
