Fair Day is the Mardi Gras festival's great community celebration — a daytime outdoor event held in Victoria Park, Camperdown, on the Sunday before the Mardi Gras parade. Drawing approximately 80,000 people, Fair Day is the most inclusive and family-friendly event of the Mardi Gras season: stalls from LGBTQ+ community organisations, food and drink vendors, live entertainment across multiple stages, dog shows, and the particular atmosphere of 80,000 people enjoying a Sydney summer afternoon in an openly queer community space. Fair Day has been a Mardi Gras fixture for decades and represents the community-festival dimension of the Mardi Gras season — an outdoor counterpart to the parade's spectacle and the Party's indoor intensity. Entry is free, making it accessible to all visitors. Victoria Park is easily reached by public transport from the CBD.
