Le Cactus on Rue des Remparts is a Bordeaux stalwart — one of the city's longest-running gay bars, drawing a regular local clientele who have been coming for years. The atmosphere is unpretentious and friendly rather than aspirational: affordable drinks, no dress code, a mixed-age crowd that spans students and regulars in their 40s and 50s. From Thursday onwards the bar gets genuinely busy; Sunday afternoon is a notable draw, with a relaxed apéro atmosphere that stretches into the evening. A reliable fallback when other venues are quiet, and a useful orientation point for first-time visitors.
