About this place Baston

Baston opened in 2019 in a former restaurant space in Vieux Lyon — Lyon's UNESCO-listed medieval quarter — and built a reputation as an arts-and-culture-led queer venue. The programme is consistently inventive: art exhibitions, drag shows, live music, queer bingo. Described on its opening as a "new queer temple" in the city's oldest neighbourhood. The setting (medieval stone, low ceilings, candles) makes it unlike any other LGBTQ+ venue in Lyon. Inclusive and arts-focused rather than cruisy.
