The weekly Sunday afternoon apéro at Café de la Mer is the most important recurring social event in Montpellier's gay scene. The terrace fills from mid-afternoon with a convivial mix of locals and visitors; it is the best single opportunity to meet the city's queer community informally. On Pride weekend the Sunday apéro continues until late and is the natural gathering point before the official events.
