Bari, Italy
Bari Pride is the principal LGBTQ+ event for Puglia, drawing participants from across the region including Lecce, Taranto, Foggia and the coastal towns. The march routes through the city centre from Piazza Umberto I to the waterfront. Expected attendance: 8,000–15,000. The event is organised by Arcigay Bari and has grown significantly over the past decade as the city has developed as a tourism and university destination. The backdrop — the Adriatic, the old town walls, the Basilica di San Nicola — is one of the most distinctive Pride settings in the south.
Travel Guide
Everything worth knowing before you go.
Bari is the capital of Puglia and one of Italy's fastest-evolving cities for LGBTQ+ visibility. The Adriatic port city — known for its extraordinary Romanesque Basilica di San Nicola, its labyrinthine old town, and its position as the gateway to Greece and the Balkans — has developed a small but growing gay scene in the Libertà and Madonnella neighbourhoods. Bari Pride draws from across Puglia. The city's rapid development as a tourism destination and its large university have pushed it towards greater openness.
