Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia — a Mediterranean island city with a beautiful hilltop old town (Castello quarter), excellent beaches close to the city and a slowly growing gay scene. Arcigay Cagliari is active. Cagliari Pride, started in 2012, has grown steadily. The island's coastline includes gay-friendly beaches in summer.
