The Galoppatoio — a manmade horse-racing track within the Villa Borghese gardens, north of the Spanish Steps — is well established as Rome's most active outdoor cruising area. Activity concentrates in the track's wooded periphery, particularly after dark. The Villa Borghese park itself is one of Rome's most beautiful green spaces (home to the Galleria Borghese museum) and is a legitimate daytime destination for any visitor; the cruising area is specific to the Galoppatoio section and is most active from early evening until closing.
