Stockholm Gay Pride is Scandinavia's largest LGBTQ+ event, transforming the Swedish capital for a week each July into a celebration that combines political engagement with extraordinary parties. The Pride Parade through the city centre draws over 60,000 marchers and hundreds of thousands of spectators, making it one of northern Europe's most spectacular civil rights demonstrations.
Stockholm's unique combination of progressive politics, stunning Nordic architecture, and world-class design gives its pride a distinctive aesthetic. The parade winds through Kungsholmen to Östermalm, passing royal palaces and through the island city's bridges and waterways. Sweden has been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ rights for decades — same-sex partnerships were recognized in 1987 — and Stockholm Pride reflects a society where acceptance is mainstream.
The EuroPride Village and concert areas run alongside the march, with international artists and Swedish LGBTQ+ performers filling the stages.
