Fibre is the most prominent gay venue on Lower Briggate — Leeds' main LGBTQ+ street, running south from the city centre towards the river. The bar occupies a prominent corner position with a large terrace, open from noon daily, making it the first port of call for any LGBTQ+ visitor to Leeds. Two floors: the ground floor bar is relaxed and accessible; the upper floor and terrace become more lively on Thursday–Saturday evenings when DJs begin. The crowd is mixed — gay men, queer women, trans people, allies — reflecting Leeds' broadly inclusive queer scene. Not a specialist venue in any specific sense; its role is as the community gathering point for a city without the critical mass to sustain multiple specialist spaces. Fibre coordinates with the Leeds Pride organisers and is the hub of the Pride week activity.
