A huge building with an excellent architecture just in front of Radcliffe Camera is really nice place to visit. I visited last month. You can sit sometime in church get relaxed and can go to on the roof of tower from where you can observe the whole city look . Nice place i liked tower clock sound and it's place. I enjoyed this place hope to visit again by next month....
I visited the University Church of St Mary the Virgin on a Sunday afternoon with my family, and it was a truly meaningful experience. The moment we approached the building, we were struck by its impressive architecture and the sense of history it carries. The church has a dignified presence that naturally inspires respect and reflection. Inside, the atmosphere is quiet and deeply serene. The peaceful environment allows visitors to pause, appreciate the beauty of the interior, and take in the spiritual and historical significance of the space. Entry is free, and visitors are welcome to make a voluntary donation—something we felt happy to contribute to, given the church’s role in the community and its preservation. Overall, it is a remarkable place to visit, offering both architectural splendour and a tranquil, contemplative environment. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oxford, whether for its history, its spiritual value, or simply a moment of peace.
The church was very eye-catching and child-friendly, and entry to the church itself is free. We also visited the observatory, which costs £6 per ticket, and we waited in the queue for almost 10 minutes. Our toddler couldn’t enter for safety reasons, and it’s really small up there, even for two people. The view, however, was amazing.
The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is a truly remarkable landmark in Oxford. The architecture is stunning, with beautiful Gothic details and an impressive interior that reflects centuries of history and tradition. Climbing the tower is absolutely worth it — the panoramic views over Radcliffe Camera and Oxford’s skyline are breathtaking and offer one of the best viewpoints in the city. The atmosphere inside the church is peaceful and welcoming, whether you are visiting for worship, history, or simply to admire the craftsmanship. A must-visit destination in Oxford and a memorable part of any trip.
Beautiful church, inside and out. Tower has outstanding views of Oxford and the surrounding countryside. 127 steps, give it a pass if you're more than about 90 kilos.
