For a visit focused on the gay scene, Oak Lawn and Uptown are the right areas to base yourself. Both are within walking distance or a short Uber ride from Cedar Springs Road, and Uptown has good restaurants, coffee shops, and daytime activity beyond the bars. Downtown Dallas is a viable alternative if you want lower prices or are combining the trip with business — it's ten to fifteen minutes by rideshare from Oak Lawn.

Dallas has a good range of accommodation at prices that are noticeably lower than comparable neighborhoods in New York or Los Angeles. A solid mid-range hotel in Uptown runs $100-180 per night outside of Pride weekend. During the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade in late September, prices rise sharply and availability in the Oak Lawn area gets tight — book early.

Where to Stay

Oak Lawn and Uptown

The closest option to Cedar Springs. Staying here means you can walk to the bars rather than relying on rideshare at 1am. Uptown has a dense concentration of hotels, from boutique options to familiar chain properties. The West Village is a particularly pleasant part of Uptown to base yourself — good restaurants, walkable streets, and a short distance from the scene.

Downtown Dallas

Dallas's downtown has decent hotels, often at lower prices than Uptown. The tradeoff is that you'll need to rideshare to Cedar Springs rather than walk. It's not a major inconvenience, and downtown puts you near DART rail if you want to use public transit. The Arts District is particularly pleasant for a stay if you're interested in daytime museums and galleries alongside nightlife.

Love Field Area

If you're flying Southwest into Love Field (DAL), the surrounding area has a cluster of business-oriented hotels. It's a straightforward Uber to Oak Lawn — about ten minutes in normal traffic. Not the most atmospheric base, but functional if you're on a budget or arriving late.

    Booking Tips

Dallas Pride in late September is the only time of year when Oak Lawn accommodation books up significantly in advance. Book at least two to three months ahead for Pride weekend, particularly for anything within walking distance of Cedar Springs.

Outside of Pride season, Dallas hotels are generally available with reasonable notice. Spring and fall are popular for general visitors due to the weather, so rates can be higher in March to May and October to November, but not severely so.

Most Uptown hotels are non-smoking. Dallas has some Airbnb inventory in Oak Lawn and surrounding neighborhoods if you prefer apartment-style accommodation.
