Brasília's pride parade takes on extra significance by happening in the planned capital of Brazil — the city where Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court all sit. Each October, the LGBTQ+ community marches through the modernist avenues of Oscar Niemeyer's extraordinary city in a parade that is as much a political statement as a celebration. The contrast between the utopian modernist architecture and the rainbow flags is uniquely striking.
