Fierté Montréal is the largest French-language LGBTQ+ event in the world — a ten-day festival held each August that draws approximately 2.5 million visitors to Montreal's Le Village and the surrounding city. The festival encompasses a street festival on Rue Sainte-Catherine Est, the Pride Parade, community events, drag performances, circuit parties, film screenings, and a range of programming that spans the full ten days. Fierté Montréal draws visitors from across Canada, the United States, France, and the French-speaking world, reflecting Montreal's unique position as a major LGBTQ+ destination that is simultaneously North American and Francophone. The parade route passes through Le Village on Rue Sainte-Catherine Est; the street festival transforms the neighbourhood for the duration of the event. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Montreal, Fierté Montréal in August is the defining event of the calendar — the ten days when the city is at its most joyful, most visible, and most internationally connected.
