My Sister's Room is one of the most enduring lesbian bars in the American South — a title that speaks to how rare such venues have become across the country as the category has contracted over decades. Located in East Atlanta Village, a neighbourhood that has developed one of Atlanta's most interesting independent bar and music scenes, MSR has built a loyal following across decades by doing what a great lesbian bar should do: creating a space where queer women feel centred rather than welcome-but-not-the-focus. Regular DJ nights, themed events, and live performances give the calendar structure, while the bar's relaxed atmosphere and mixed-queer welcoming policy (MSR draws non-binary and trans patrons and allies alongside its core cis lesbian audience) mean any night can work. The East Atlanta location is away from the Midtown cluster, which makes it a destination rather than a bar crawl stop — but the neighbourhood itself is worth the trip, with a collection of bars, restaurants, and music venues that complement an evening at MSR.
