San Francisco Pride is one of the world's most iconic LGBTQ+ events, held every June in the city where the modern gay rights movement found its spiritual home. The 56th Annual SF Pride Parade and Celebration on June 27-28, 2026 draws over 1 million people to the Civic Center Plaza and the parade route down Market Street.
The parade on Sunday June 28 is the centrepiece: hundreds of floats and groups march down Market Street from Beale Street to Civic Center, watched by a million spectators. The festival at Civic Center Plaza runs both days with multiple stages, vendors, and community organizations. Top performers and politicians routinely appear, and the event remains explicitly political in a city that has always worn its queer politics openly.
San Francisco Pride's power lies in its history. Harvey Milk marched here. The Names Project AIDS quilt was displayed here. Every generation of the American LGBTQ+ movement has celebrated and mourned on Market Street. That continuity gives SF Pride an emotional depth that newer events can't replicate.
