The voice of the LGBT Democrats in Columbia District and the safe haven for all LGBT community members in Washington DC, The Gertrude Democratic Club was formed in 1976. The club can be regarded as the oldest Democratic club in DC that supports the LGBT community and is considered as the founding episode of the NSD.
