La Mutinerie opened in 2012 as an explicitly political queer feminist space: a bar for women, lesbians, bisexual people, queers, and trans people in a city where women-focused LGBTQ+ venues have long been underrepresented. The programming reflects that commitment — DJ sets, drag king performances, film screenings, and community discussions are part of the regular offering. The bar is on the edge of Le Marais proper, on Rue Saint-Martin in the 3rd arrondissement, and maintains a notably different energy from the male-dominant bars of Rue des Archives. NOTE: The venue publicly appealed for community financial support in 2024 due to serious difficulties with rent and post-COVID recovery. As of early 2026 it appeared to be operating. Verify current status before visiting and consider supporting if you go.
