Madrid Gay Pride (Orgullo) is Europe's largest LGBTQ+ festival and one of the biggest in the world, transforming the Spanish capital for ten days each summer with an extraordinary program of concerts, parties, cultural events and the spectacular parade through Chueca.
The Parade on Saturday draws over 1.5 million people to the streets of Chueca and the surrounding neighborhoods — a river of humanity that flows through the city's gay heart for hours. The week-long program leading up to the parade includes the famous WE Party circuit events at IFEMA exhibition center, the Noche de los Maletines (Briefcases Night) outdoor drag show, free outdoor concerts at the Templo de Debod, and dozens of themed nights at Chueca's hundreds of bars and clubs.
Chueca itself — Madrid's legendary gay neighborhood — becomes the epicenter of global gay life for the duration. Hotels fill six months in advance. Flights from across Europe and Latin America sell out. For ten days, the entire city becomes welcoming in a way that few cities can match.
