Chicago Pride is one of North America's largest pride parades, filling Halsted Street through Boystown — America's first officially recognized gay neighborhood — with over 1 million spectators each June. The parade winds through Wrigleyville and Boystown for over three miles, with elaborately decorated floats, community organizations, and corporate groups marching past packed sidewalks and packed balconies.
The Halsted Market Days festival, North Halsted business district events, and Pride Block Party in Andersonville complement the parade to create a full pride weekend. Chicago's June weather at its best makes the lakefront a spectacular backdrop for satellite events and post-parade gatherings.
Chicago Pride has been running since 1970 and remains defined by its authentically neighborhood character: Boystown's residents lean out of their windows and pack their rooftops, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a massive block party than a formal event.
