Great food, with attentive staff that made sure to explain every dish with in depth knowledge and detail. They accepted us even though they were going to close soon, and was not once pushing us to finish our meal. Warning, this is not your average Mexican restaurant, so be aware of the prices before you start ordering.
The inner decors are pleasant and are tranquil. It's a whole new expertise in our every visit to Salpicon and I cannot wait to dine here again! Dining in Salpicon restaurant is known for one of the best in Chicago. You would experience the great taste of food and the service. However my experience was also fine. I loved both food and wine made us excited to order one more. The prices of the food items are also very reasonable. I suggest that don't miss the thing if you are fond of wines. Give it a try; and you will never gets disappoint. The wine selection was very good. We had a great discovery of wine at Salpicon. He brought us 4 different glasses to try before we settled on to it, and we really enjoyed that trial.
Delicious selection of Mexican cuisine. I couldn't decide what to get, so I ordered three appetizers instead of an entree and got a bowl of soup. Everything was fresh and flavorful, however the food wasn't as hot as it could have been, which was a bummer. The soup wasn't very hot when it arrived and was totally cold after only three bites. Also the portion of guacamole was pretty small, compared to up the street at Adobo. Very cool wine room upstairs and extensive wine and cocktail list was great!
The food was excellent. The decor was modern and the atmosphere was inviting. The tables are well spaced so you are not sitting super-close to people. We went on a Wednesday around 1830 and it wasn't crowded. Our server was excellent, gave great recommendations, and had personality. I recommend getting the steak.
I made a reservation for Valentine's day weekend through Open Table. The staff was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. I agree with a previous reviewer in that the food is not authentic. It's more of a modern fusion take on Mexican food. This is not a bad thing, just something to be aware of before going there.
